Our Why
Founded in 2017, Active Style Dancewear was created to give dance families access to high-quality products at an affordable price.
As a mum of two daughters who danced, I was constantly on the lookout for quality, reasonably priced essentials—especially shoes and tights. I began exploring alternative brands and discovered some fantastic, budget-friendly products that didn’t compromise on quality.
What started as a personal search has grown into something I’m incredibly proud to share with you.
We’re passionate about offering personalised, friendly service and supporting our wonderful dance community every step of the way.
Julie-Anne x
Meet The Team

While Julie-Anne runs the day to day operations of the business, it's a family affair with Sophie & Claire both having been trained to fit dance shoes. The girls help out, especially when attending pop up events at dance studios (that is when they aren't busy teaching or performing themselves).
Julie-Anne
Whilst not a dancer herself (unless you count Zumba, a few Latin classes taken with friends, and a year or so of jazz ballet classes held in a community hall back in the 80s), Julie-Anne has been part of the Sydney dance community since 2010. She has been to too many eisteddfods to count and swears she could adjudicate dancers herself—though admits she would likely get distracted trying to work out what brand of shoes each dancer is wearing, or how many dancers in a troupe have holes in their fishnets one minute into their routine!
Sophie
Sophie danced in all the usual styles for seven years. She has taught Ready Set Dance classes, as well as ballet, jazz, and tap to older students at a number of dance studios. The GWT tap syllabus is her favourite. Sophie has also worked as a swimming teacher, completed activation work, and is currently both an early learning educator and a physio aide—so clearly she loves working with children.
Claire
Claire has danced since she was two years old and has never wanted to do anything other than be a professional performer. She is well on her way and is currently in her second year at ED5 International, studying for an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts. She also teaches dance, and her favourite thing is creating and teaching her own choreography.
